Sonic the Hedgehog X Godzilla #1 is coming from IDW Publishing this summer.
It’s by two creators who know their subjects, writer Nick Marino (Godzilla Rivals) and artist Jack Lawrence (Sonic the Hedgehog). The comic has Godzilla and other kaiju appearing in Sonic’s world, where Dr. Eggman tries to control the iconic monsters while Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow work to send the visitors back to their own world.
Said Marino, “I’m doing my best to cook up fun scenarios for Jack to draw, and then I’m making sure my panel counts leave enough room for him to properly play around with the fantastic spectacle that this crossover deserves. I hope our readers agree that the result is a cohesive mix of these two visual focuses – small speedsters and massive monsters – that delivers the best of both worlds!”
IDW has released images of five variant covers, plus two retailer incentive covers: a 1-25 by Natalie Haines and a 1-50 by Miles Arq.
IDW previously published a five-issue Sonic crossover with the Justice League in 2025 (see “Justice League, Sonic the Hedgehog to Cross Over“). They have been the comic licensee for the Sega property since 2017 (see “IDW Celebrates Five Years of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’“).
