Dark Horse Comics is launching ongoing series and maxiseries of its biggest licenses, Editor in Chief Dave Marshall told the audience at Retailer Day at New York Comic Con, and he outlined the plan for the newly announced Baldur’s Gate 3 series. In the past, many of these licenses would be four-issue miniseries, but Dark Horse launched two ongoing series recently, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Canto: The Clockwork Chronicles.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch with a six-issue arc by writer Alyssa Wong and artist Vincenzo Carratù that will focus on the character Astarian and is his first appearance in comics. The first issue will be released on January 6, 2027, with covers by Gerald Parel, Scott Fischer, Angela Wu, and Tyler Walpole. The series will continue with a second, 12-issue story arc, spanning #7-18, by Becky Cloonan and Francesco Scimonelli (Dick Tracy).
Dark Horse also announced an ongoing Barbie series at NYCC, which will kick off with a six-issue arc by Ben Kahn and Natalie Nardozza (see “Barbie Coming Back to Comics“).
