IDW Publishing will bring horror stories to its licensed comics in 2027, Director of Marketing Aub Driver told retailers during Retailer Day at New York Comic Con. “Next year in 2027, IDW is going dark,” he said. “What that means is across the licensed lines that we have, including Hello Kitty, Godzilla, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Star Trek, we will be doing dark horror tales. We’re going to be announcing more on that very shortly.” Sonic the Hedgehog will also get the IDW Dark treatment.
IDW also announced at NYCC that announced IDW Dark will publish comics based on Blumhouse Films properties (see “IDW Dark to Publish Blumhouse Comics“). The imprint was founded in 2024 (see “IDW Launches Horror Imprint“).
