The small comics publisher Bad Idea, which had vowed to go out of business at the end of 2021 (see “Bad Idea Announces ‘Final Five’ Lineup”) and then did not, has announced a new hire and a promotion.
Peter Stern, who like many of the Bad Idea team is a Valiant alumnus, will be the publisher’s new Managing Editor. He will take the helm as Bad Idea rolls out its Bad Idea Two initiative, with a lineup that includes Megalith by Matt Kindt and Lewis LaRosa, They’re All Terrible by Kindt and Ramon Villalobos, and other projects yet to be announced.
Stern started at Valiant in 2013 as Operations Manager and was promoted to Publishing & Operations Manager in 2014 and Director of International Publishing & Merchandising in March 2018 (see “Valiant Promotes Four Staff Members”). He left Valiant in October 2022.
Bad Idea also announced the promotion of Anthony Militano to Director of Data & Operations. Militano came to Bad Idea in 2021 as Sales & Operations Manager. His previous experience in the field includes eight years at MaximuM Comics in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he rose from Assistant Store Manager to Director of Retail Operations.
