Justice League Goes Prehistoric in ‘Jurassic League’

What if Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman were dinosaurs? That’s the concept behind a new limited series, Jurassic League, which DC will launch on May 10. The six-issue series depicts the members of the Justice League as dinosaurs: Batman is an allosaurus, Superman is a brachiosaurus, and Wonder Woman is a triceratops. They team up with other superpowered dinosaurs to save the prehistoric Earth from Darkseid’s evil plans.

Daniel Warren Johnson (Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and Juan Gedeon (Pennyworth) are co-writing the series, with Gedeon doing the interior art and Johnson handling the main cover artwork for all six issues. The first issue will also have a 1:25 Megalustre “Dino Skin” variant cover by Walt Simonson as well as an open variant by Gedeon. The 32-page comic will have an MSRP of $3.99 for the regular cover; $4.99 for the card stock variant.

Jurassic League is all I want to draw: dinos and epic fights,” said Gedeon in DC’s announcement. “My own version of a 90s cartoon or videogame. Expect a story about survival, unity and hope where the strong protect the weak in a world where danger lurks in every corner.”

“Batsaur suplexes a Joker dilophosaurus,” added Johnson, “you’re welcome!”

DC Comics also recently previewed their covers for Justice League #75 (see “Preview: ‘Justice League’ #75 Covers“).
