You can try Justice League Unlimited, the first new DC Universe RPG in almost two decades, today, thanks to a new quickplay preview.
Earlier this year, D20 Culture and Mark Waid announced Justice League Unlimited: The Roleplaying Game, the first new RPG set in the DC Universe in almost two decades. And as of today, you can take a closer look at the rules, including the robust character creation system as well as the ability to play as your favorite members of the Justice League, thanks to a new Quickplay version of the rules. Best of all, it’s free.
Justice League Unlimited RPG – Quickstart Available Now
The game itself is a “narrative driven table-top roleplaying game that will invite players to forge their own legends within the expansive DC Universe.” And that’s a pretty broad premise. I mean, the DC Universe features all sorts of legends. Whether that’s ancient space gods like Darkseid. Or War Wheel, a big… wheel that’s armored and outfitted with weapons. You know, for war. To say nothing of Calendar Man or Bouncing Boy or any of the other absolute weirdos from DC’s long and storied run.
But you can see it all for yourself in the Quickplay rules. The Quickplay preview introduces the game’s superhero mechanics, character creation system, powers, and “Crisis Die” feature. It also gives you a starter adventure to play through, featuring Cyborg Superman and Parasite.
“Justice League Unlimited The Roleplaying Game, co-authored by renowned DC creator Mark Waid, is a narrative driven table-top roleplaying game that will invite players to forge their own legends within the expansive DC universe. Players can either create a unique hero or assume the identity of established characters.
Set in a universe influenced by Amanda Waller’s actions in the DC comic book series Absolute Power, the ‘Unlimited’ Justice League’s organization operates from a new satellite called the Watchtower welcoming all heroes to join its ranks.”
There’s a broad suite of character types you can play. The system itself looks pretty flexible. But then, it would have to be, to let you play characters that run the gamut from Amazons to Kryptonians, with a side of Meta-Humans and Cyber Constructs as well. It’s very much intended to let you make your own superhero, or play a big archetype.
The free quickstart preview is available at the link below.
And be sure to keep an eye out for the crowdfunding campaign, coming this July!
