MÖRK BORG is a tabletop RPG of apocalyptic, doom metal fantasy. Where the world is out to get you, and your very survival is an affront to the dark powers that come to consume you all. It’s stylish, it’s rules-lite, and it’s bloody. And this week, its first ever foray into the realm of video games has arrived in early access, along with a stylish new trailer you can check out below.
MÖRK BORG: Heresy Supreme – In Early Access Now
As you might expect from a MÖRK BORG video game, in Heresy Supreme, death will be a constant companion. Yours, your enemies’, it matters little. It’s a side-scrolling action RPG with a fair amount of what I’d call souls-like combat.
That means lots of slow but brutal weapon swings on either side. You’ll have to time your attacks carefully and start learning the patterns to get a feel for when it’s safe to press the advantage or else get used to being sent back to whatever hell-hole your antihero crawled out of.
“A desperate attempt to endure the coming Apocalypse in a cursed, unjust dark fantasy world, made only to appease a vain god. Combat is brutal, choices are lethal, and survival is a temporary insult to fate. A flail to the face.
Every choice must be weighed; react in time or face a violent end. And when weapons are not enough, turn to dozens of items to curse, confuse, and drive your enemies into despair. Gather a party of wretched antiheroes and try to stall the Apocalypse before they betray you and strip you of what little you have.”
It’s in early access now, with plans to remain in early access for the next six months to a year. I’d guess closer to the latter than anything else. But they did just put out their first roadmap update, outlining plans to let the players help shape the game going forward. You (yes you) can vote on the next playable Class to be implemented, as well as offer feedback on other features.
And then of course, you’ll eventually get pulped into oblivion and be ready to try it all all over again.
