White Wolf has a big new plan in the works for Vampire: The Masquerade, and the full breadth of its schemes will be unveiled at Gen Con.

White Wolf has a “love letter” in the works for Vampire: The Masquerade, it seems. Including an updated metaplot and a return to that era of Vampire. Though what form said letter will take will not be truly revealed until we hit Gen Con this year.

White Wolf: Vampire: The Masquerade Reveal Coming At Gen Con

Vampire: the Masquerade and the other supernatural types that inhabit the World of Darkness are in the midst of a resurgence right now. There’s an excitement about Vampire, which is popping up everywhere, including the dome of Dimension 20 (and if you aren’t watching the City Council of Darkness season, you absolutely should be).

White Wolf, on the other hand, has been a name out of the public eye for a while. Though Paradox revived the development studio back in 2025. Now, it seems both are coming together again with an exciting new project. At least that’s what came out in the blog follow up to the announcement at the Darkness Emergent LA Panel.

“The new project is our love letter to the 30+ years of vampires that have led us here. We’re celebrating the connection between lore and mechanics, rules and storytelling. The design is focused on player agency, collaboration, and making the experience feel personal. The art direction is built around illustration, with a strong commitment to human-made work.

We’re also looking at how we want to work with the metaplot in future books. The sense that history is moving and your chronicle exists inside something larger matters to people. It matters to us too.”

That last little bit about the metaplot will doubtless roll some eyes among the players of Vampire. But it’s also what makes the World of Darkness the World of Darkness. There’s always something happening as the pages of history turn.

And the fact that that’s part of the “White Wolf is Back at Gen Con” blog post is somehow fitting. At any rate, we’ll have more details soon enough.
