This is already a big year for accessories sales, especially TCG-related products, we’ve heard from both retailer and distributors. And the types of products that are selling a positive bellwether for the health of the hobby, indicating healthy engagement.
Sales of play-related TCG accessories, for example (sleeves, Deck Boxes, etc.) are moving upward in tandem with TCG sales, which one distributor noted as a sign that consumers aren’t just buying TCGs for speculation, they’re buying them for play. “We use [TCG play-related accessories] as a measuring stick to show there are people actually playing the games versus just collecting, and we see a pretty big trend there,” the distributor observed. People are buying supplies at a rate that shows there’s a lot more engagement. The sleeves and Deck Boxes and the things that denote trading card play, those are all way up.”
Other parts of the gaming hobby with strong accessories sales indicating engagement are related to painting miniatures. “Miniature accessories are way up,” a distributor told us. “Paint, paint supplies, models, markers, you have all those little things.”
While TCG and miniature-related accessories are the fastest-growing segments of the gaming accessories category in 2026, there are also plenty of dice being sold, but the popularity of the collectible blind-pack format may indicate that dollar increases may be more related to collectability than growth in RPG play.
