Lucasfilm Publishing has announced new Star Wars graphic novels.

Coming out March 16, 2027, from Random House Worlds is Star Wars: A New Hope (The Complete Manga).  The hardcover omnibus collects all four volumes of the manga adaptation of the original Star Wars movie by Hisao Tamaki. It’s the classic story of Luke Skywalker joining the Rebel Alliance to fight the Galactic Empire and the Death Star, accompanied by Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.  The omnibus collection is being released to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary.

Also part of that celebration is a new graphic novel from Mad Cave Studios’ Papercutz imprint.  Star Wars: A New Hope: Triple Take, coming out April 27, 2027, retells the events of the movie from three perspectives: those of Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker.  Luke recalls a mythic, courageous journey; Leia is focused on the danger of rebelling against a giant Empire, and Han is concerned with his own heroism.  It’s written by siblings Kim Shearer and Chas! Pangburn with four different artists: Max Pinelli, Angela Sancono, David Stoll, and Elena Triolo.

At their New York Comic Con panel, where these books were announced, the publisher also promoted the February-released one-shot Jar Jar Binks #1 from Marvel Comics.  It’s co-written by Ahmed Best, the actor who played Jar Jar, and Marc Guggenheim, who wrote Star Wars: Jedi Knights (see “‘Star Wars: Jedi Knights’“).  In the comic, Jar Jar Binks teams up with Kelleran Beq, another character played by Best in The Mandalorian.  It’s illustrated by Laura Braga and Kieran McKeown with cover by Taurin Clarke.
