One of the huge banners that adorned the Javits Center during AnimeNYC was for the Overgeared anime, which will premiere on October 2, 2026, on Crunchyroll. Overgeared is a Korean manhwa in the LitRPG genre, available in English as a webtoon on the Tapas platform, where it has over 6 million views, and in print from Ize Press, which will release Vol. 12 on November 17. It’s likely that, like another Tapas/Ize Press series, Solo Leveling, Overgeared will see a bump in sales when the anime hits.

There’s more to come. WEBTOON inked a deal with Warners last year to co-produce animated adaptations of series that run on the platform (see “Animation Deal”), and Japanese and Korean studios are busy with anime and live-action projects. Here’s a look at some recent and upcoming adaptations of webtoon properties.

The SSS-Class Revival Hunter anime, based on another LitRPG manhwa, will premiere on Crunchyroll in January 2027. The comic has almost 7 million views on Tapas, and Ize Press publishes the print edition.

Yet another LitRPG fantasy, Tomb Raider King, by Sanji Jiksong and Redice Studio, launched on Crunchyroll in July. This series is technically aeni, Korean animation. The webtoon has over 10 million views on Tapas, and the print edition is published by Ize Press.

The live-action series Viral Hit, which premiered on Netflix in May 2026, is based on the manhwa of the same name by writer Taejun Pak (creator of Looksism) and artist Kim Junghyun. The action drama about a hard-up teen who makes money by streaming his fights with bullies on a video platform, is available in English on the WEBTOON platform, where it has over 130 million views, and in print from WEBTOON Unscrolled (see “Webtoon Unscrolled”).

Looking further out, WEBTOON announced it is collaborating with the French studio OuiDo! Productions on an animated adaptation of Emma Krogell’s Lumine, the story of a were-dog who befriends a witch boy. The showrunner will be He-Man and the Masters of the Universe screenwriter Bryan Q. Miller. The webtoon has over 550 million views on WEBTOON worldwide, and WEBTOON Unscrolled published Vol. 4 in April 2026.

Villains Are Destined to Die, one of Ize Press’s launch titles (see “Yen Doubles Down on Korean Webtoons”), will get an anime adaptation, Anime News Network reports. No date was given. The series has over 16 million views on the Tapas platform, and the print editions are a regular presence on the BookScan Author charts (see “August 2026 Circana BookScan”).
