Modiphius Entertainment has announced two board games based on Sir Terry Pratchett’s influential Discworld series: Kill Sam Vimes and Readers Digested. Both games will be available for pre-order on August 20.
Created by Dom Westerland (Fallout: Miniatures – Spooktober!), Kill Sam Vimes pits would-be assassins in a competition to accomplish the impossible task of killing Sam Vimes. They must attempt to outmaneuver the traps put in place by Vimes while outdoing their rivals to gain points for their House. As soon as any House is able to get all of their assassins into position, the House who has earned the most points is declare the victor.
Kill Sam Vimes is suitable for two to six players and takes about an hour to play.
Readers Digested is a reimagined version of Dr. Reiner Knizia’s Blue Moon City, set this time in the library of the Unseen University. Student wizards have arrived for reading week, desperate to access the library’s resources. The players act as assistant librarians, attempting to aid the confused students while maintaining order and decorum in the library.
Readers Digested is intended for two to four players and plays in about an hour. Both a standard version and a deluxe version with upgraded components and solo play rules will be offered.
Modiphius has also revealed new starter sets and mini kits for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare (see “Modiphius Announces Two New ‘Fallout: Wasteland Warfare’ Starter Sets”) as well as additional packs for the upcoming X-Com: The Miniatures Game (see “Modiphius Reveald Three ‘X-Com: The Miniatures Game’ Packs”).
