Gen Con LLC. revealed that they have set a new attendance record for their convention, which took place July 30, 2026 to August 2, 2026.

Gen Con had posted signs stating that the convention had sold out for all four days on July 29, 2026 (see “‘Gen Con Sold Out: All Days’ Signs“), so the record-breaking attendance should come as no surprise. Over 74,000 people attended Gen Con in 2026, which is 2,000 more than the previous year (see “Gen Con 2025 Sets New Attendance Record“). Next year’s attendance totals will more than likely be even higher, for Gen Con 60, as the Indiana Convention Center is expanding by 143,500 square feet, and new hotels in the downtown area will be open in 2027.

“Even through construction and thunderstorms, Gen Con 2026 was bigger and better than ever, with a record-breaking number of attendees gathering in Indianapolis for The Best Four Days in Gaming,” said Gen Con President David Hoppe. “We can’t thank Indy enough for hosting us, and we’re already looking forward to our 60th anniversary convention in an expanded Indiana Convention Center next year.”

The number of vendors also increased in 2026 to nearly 800. This is up 45% over last year’s 575 vendors attending the show. The total economic impact of the show was reported at over $83.5 million for local businesses, and Gen Con attendees raised almost $50,00 for charities by the end of the show.
