Czech Games Edition is teaming up with Tomas Holek (SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) and Vlaada Chvatil (Codenames) to produce Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game under license from Warhorse Studios. The game will premier at this year’s Spiel convention in Essen Germany this October.
Like the award-winning video game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game is set in 15th Century Bohemia, with players assuming the role of poor peasants looking for a way to get ahead in the war-ravaged kingdom. Over the course the game, they can aid their local nobles, steal needed resources, hone skills from fighting to alchemy, and build their own network of connections.
The game is competitive without focusing on direct conflict between players. Using a “Euro” style game system built on deck-building and skill tests, it offers light role-playing elements that allow players to develop their heroes through five “days” of activity. It features story-driven action with replayable and variable narratives, side quests, and a wide variety of in-game encounters. The player who can best achieve their objectives within the game will be the winner.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is the first collaboration between Holek and Chvatil. The game is intended for one to four players, ages fourteen and up, and it takes about ninety minutes per player to play. MSRP is set at $199.99. The thirteen-and-a-half pound box includes 1 main map board, 4 player boards, 3 supporting boards, 184 tiles, more than 300 tokens and markers, 2 card stands, over 500 cards, 10 main storyline quests each with its own cards and tiles, 55 side quests, a storyline book, and 164 player pieces.
This summer, CGE is offering a version of Codenames featuring Critical Role Adventures (see “‘Codenames’ Embraces ‘Critical Role’”) as well as a trio of themed Codenames expansions (see “Czech Games Edition Announces Three ‘Codenames’ Expansion Packs”).
