The surest way to be voted Grownup of the Year in many homes of middle-grade readers is to show up with the newest Dog Man title. That would be Dog Man: A Sprinkle in Time, a sci-fi adventure in which Grampa, the closest thing to a villain in the world of Dog Man, alters the fabric of space and time, threatening the very existence of Dog Man himself. The 240-page hardcover, rated for ages 7 and up, will go on sale on November 3 with an MSRP of $15.99.

The Baby-Sitters Club Super Special: Baby-Sitters on Board brings together two BSC veterans, Raina Telgemeier and Gale Galligan, for an extra-long adventure set on a cruise to the Bahamas, followed by a trip to a Florida amusement park (see “New ‘Baby-Sitters Club’”). Graphix will release the 320-page graphic novel, rated for ages 8-12, in two formats, a paperback with an MSRP of $16.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $27.99.

Hilo: The Holiday Special continues Judd Winick’s best-selling series with a holiday-themed story featuring a sentient snowman. But this new visitor is no Frosty: He’s grumpy and destructive, and Hilo and his friends have to figure out what his problem is so he won’t wreck the holiday party. Random House Graphic will publish the 224-page hardcover, rated for ages 8-12, on October 6 with an MSRP of $14.99.

Jeffrey Brown, whose cozy takes on Star Wars and the Marvel Universe (see “Hulk Heads to School in New Jeffrey Brown Graphic Novel”) have been favorites of kids and adults alike for years, turns his hand to a more kid-specific franchise: LEGO. His LEGO Nikolas Nurdblok and the Lost Brick, rated for ages 7-9, is the story of the youngest son in a family of adventurers who longs to go on an adventure himself. When his family heads out to search for a lost brick and leaves him behind, he teams up with his best friend for a quest of their own. The 176-page, black and white hardcover is published by DK’s children’s imprint DK Flip and will be released on October 27 with an MSRP of $14.99.

Aquamanateam: More than a Dream, by writer Ben Clanton and artist Cassandra Federman, is the second book in DC’s charming early-readers series about a manatee who wants to be a superhero (see “DC to Publish ‘Aquamanatee’”). Clanton is the creator of the wildly successful Narwhal and Jellyfish, and this book has a similar vibe with the extra appeal of superheroes. It’s also pitched at the same audience, readers aged 5 to 7. The 72-page hardcover will go on sale on October 13 with an MSRP of $12.99.

Fox River Comics Camp, by Cathy G. Johnson, comes with high praise: It’s blurbed by Raina Telgemeier and Scott McCloud, co-creators of the Eisner-winning The Cartoonists Club. A couple of things set Fox River Comics Camp apart from other how-to books: The lessons mix instruction in the basics, activities, games, and tips, and the pages devoted to each are color coded to help the reader navigate the book. Johnson takes a playful approach, with animals at a comics camp going through different exercises designed to stimulate their creativity. Abrams will publish the book, which is rated for ages 6 to 10, under its children’s imprint Abrams Fanfare. The 112-page, paper over board hardcover is scheduled for October 6 release with an MSRP of $14.99.
