Mariposa Games will release Garage Rock, a new worker placement board game, into retail on August 18, 2026.

In this game, players revisit the hard rock world of 1986 as a teenage garage band looking to win a Battle of the Bands competition. To do so, players will need to send their band members out to upgrade their skills, post flyers around town, sell band merch, and write new songs. They will, of course, need to play some gigs to earn money for visits to the Music Shop and Clothing Store as well as record demos so that DJ Johnny Law can play their music on his pirate radio station and make them famous.

The game continues over the course of sixteen weeks (rounds) of summer and is capped off by the Battle of the Bands event. The player with the most fans wins. This game is for one to four players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 60 to 90 minutes. It will retail for $49.99.

Devir Games also released a rock band game back in 2024 (see “‘Rock Hard: 1977’ (Board Game)“).
