The snow and ice is melting a bit as the Hollywood news gets hotter. Here’s a new round-up!
Ancora Holdings Group has taken a $200 million stake in Warner Bros. Discovery in an attempt to mount a greater opposition to their Netflix’s buyout of the company, according to The Wall Street Journal. Ancora contends that the Warner Bros. board didn’t adequately engage in talks with Paramount Skydance, who made an offer for the entire company as opposed to Netflix’s $72 billion deal for Warner’s studios, DC Comics and HBO Max (see “Netflix“). Their involvement adds another layer of uncertainty to an already messy, hostile situation (see “Paramount, WBD Saga Continues“).
Prime Video released a teaser trailer for Spider-Noir (see below). This series, based on the Spider-Man Noir comics (see “‘Spider-Man Noir’ Gets Series Order“), stars Nicholas Cage, Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, and Karen Rodriguez. It will begin streaming on May 27, 2026.
Lucasfilm released an official trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (see below). This movie, based off of the hit streaming series, will head to theaters on May 22, 2026 (see “‘Star Wars: Mandolorian & Grogu’“).
DC Studios revealed a new Supergirl teaser trailer (see below). Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa, will hit theaters on June 26, 2026 (see “Best in Shows“).
Netflix has scrapped the Terminator Zero animated series after one season (see “‘Terminator’ Anime“). The cancelation of the series was announced on X by Mattson Tomlin, the series creator. Tomlin posted the following comment about the cancellation: “The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it. I would‘ve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in seasons 2 and 3, but I‘m also very happy with how it feels contained as is.”
FUNimation founder Gen Fukunaga has joined Bizaar Studios advisory board. As a stakeholder and strategic advisor, Fukunaga brings decades worth of development, marketing, sales, and distribution experience to the new studio (see “FUNimation“). Bizaar Studios is an adult animation studio, backed by George R.R. Martin and Jimmy lovine.Source: ICV2
