Manga tied to anime and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles loom large on the chart of the Top 20 best-selling Adult graphic novels according to Circana (formerly NPD) BookScan data for July 2025 (7/6/25 – 8/2/25) provided to ICv2.
New anime brought two Vol. 1s into the Top 20 for the first time in July. The Summer Hikaru Died appeared in the Adult Top, after the anime dropped on Netflix on July 6, although it has popped up on the Manga charts before, and it was one of Yen Press’s top titles in 2023 (see “Yen’s Best Sellers of 2023“), Gachiakuta has never been on a BookScan chart before; the anime premiered on Crunchyroll on July 6.
The top manga titles are Shonen Jump stalwarts with strong reader loyalty. Vol. 26 of Jujutsu Kaisen is the top title for the third month in a row, and Vol. 25 of that series has been in the Top 20 for the past five months (in the top spot in March and April). In second place is Vol. 2 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 7 – Steel Ball Run, a July release, and Vol. 1 of that series is in fifth place, another volume marking its third month on the chart. And Vol. 18 of Chainsaw Man also made the Top 20 for the third month in a row. The usual assortment of first volumes of popular series are there, and almost every one of the top titles has an anime adaptation (the exception is Steel Ball Run, but Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has always been a series with a big anime following).
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a frequent flyer in the Top 20, but with the next movie set to premiere in September 2025 (see “‘Demon Slayer’“), it’s likely to get an extra boost. And readers continue to pick up first volumes and the most recent volumes of other popular series, most of them Shonen Jump.
Of the three non-manga series on the chart, two are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hardcovers: TMNT: The Last Ronin, now three years old and still going strong, and the new release TMNT: The Last Ronin II – Re-Evolution, in third and fourth place respectively. other is the DC Compact Comics edition of All-Star Superman, which is over a year old, while the July 2025 release Superman/Batman did not make the Top 20.
Speaking of things that are not on the chart, this is the first month in recent memory that no volume of Solo Leveling has made the list. That’s particularly surprising considering that Vol. 12 just came out in June, when it debuted in fifth place.
