Challenge the Shiny Sword of Ruin!
Collectively Reach One Million Victories to Claim Shiny Chien-Pao!
Until Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 23:59 UTC, a Shiny Chien-Pao with Ice as its Tera Type will be appearing in 5-star Tera Raid Battles. During this event, Trainers worldwide can unite against this Ruinous Pokémon for a chance to add it to their teams.
Unlike standard Tera Raid Battles, Shiny Chien-Pao cannot be caught upon being defeated. Instead, if the total number of player victories against this Pokémon collectively meets or exceeds one million during its event period, Shiny Chien-Pao will subsequently be available to claim via Mystery Gift during its distribution period.
For every one hundred thousand player victories collectively exceeding one million against this Pokémon, a Tera Shard Set—each containing 40 Tera Shards—will also be distributed (up to a maximum of 10 sets total). Work together with Trainers around the world to challenge the treasures of ruin and welcome them as allies!
The final total of player victories against this Pokémon is scheduled to be announced at approximately 00:00 UTC on the Friday following the conclusion of this Tera Raid Battle event.
The Shiny Chien-Pao appearing during this event may be featured in future events or become obtainable through other methods.

5-star Tera Raid Battles: Shiny Chien-Pao with Ice as its Tera Type
In order to receive the Pokémon featured in this Tera Raid Battle event—along with any Tera Shard rewards available during the Mystery Gift distribution period—the total number of victories achieved by all participating Trainers must collectively meet or exceed one million before the conclusion of the event period.

1. Launch your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
2. Select Poké Portal on the X menu.
3. Select Mystery Gift, then select Get via Internet to connect to the internet.
4. Choose the gift you want to receive.
5. Watch as the gift arrives in your game.
6. Be sure to save your game.
• You need to connect your Nintendo Switch system to the internet to claim this gift.
• To connect to the internet, your user profile must be linked to a Nintendo Account.
• It takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of play time before you are able to access the Mystery Gift feature.
• Please check the official Pokémon website for important information and instructions on how to receive Mystery Gifts.
In a Tera Raid Battle, you’ll work together with three other Trainers to defeat a powerful Tera Pokémon before time runs out. The kinds of Pokémon encountered during Tera Raid Battle events will vary. Pokémon encountered in Tera Raid Battles may have a rare Tera Type.

• To participate in Tera Raid Battle events, please download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News.
• You’ll be able to find 5-star Tera Raid Battles after completing Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet’s main story. If you haven’t completed the main story, you may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
• A Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account are required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online. Do you feel a sudden chill in the air, Trainers? Shiny Chien-Pao is appearing in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet 5-star Tera Raid Battles, the second in a series of Tera Raid Battle events featuring Shiny treasures of ruin. This Ruinous Pokémon has Ice as its Tera Type and will appear at Tera Raid crystals from Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.
Unlike most Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Tera Raid Battles, Shiny Chien-Pao cannot be caught upon being defeated. Instead, participating players must collectively achieve one million total victories before the conclusion of Chien-Pao’s event period for the opportunity to receive it through the Mystery Gift feature.
If the total number of player victories against Shiny Chien-Pao meets or exceeds one million by Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, Shiny Chien-Pao will subsequently be available to claim via Mystery Gift from Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.
The final total of player victories against is scheduled to be announced at approximately 5:00 p.m. PDT on the Thursday following the conclusion of this Tera Raid Battle event.
- Launch your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game.
- Select Poké Portal on the X menu.
- Select Mystery Gift, then select Get via Internet to connect to the internet.
- Choose the gift you want to receive.
- Watch as the gift arrives in your game.
- Be sure to save your game.
For every one hundred thousand player victories collectively exceeding one million against this Pokémon, players can also receive a Tera Shard Set containing 40 Tera Shards alongside the Shiny Pokémon Mystery Gift distribution. Players can receive up to 10 sets total from this event.
To challenge Shiny Chien-Pao, Trainers will need to either complete the main story or join 5-star Tera Raid Battles hosted by other Trainers in multiplayer.
Whenever you see a sparkling pillar of light shining from a Tera Raid crystal, you can walk up to the crystal and interact with it to start a Tera Raid Battle with a Tera Pokémon. To find the featured Tera Pokémon, you’ll also need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. To do so, follow these steps:
- Select Poké Portal in the X menu.
- Select Mystery Gift.
- Select Check Poké Portal News.
