The Pokémon Company has revealed a new Pokémon TCG expansion. Read on below to learn more:

Each expansion has its own exclusive cards, so keep an eye on which packs have your favorite Pokémon inside.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game: Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare expansions release July 18, 2025, bringing us back to the Unova region and highlighting all 156 Pokémon originally discovered in Unova across both halves of this dual release. Reunite with your favorite Pokémon, uncover inspiring and undeniable power with the region’s Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, and be on the lookout for special illustrations! Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and White Flare have unique card sets, so as we begin to uncover the Pokémon and Trainers you’ll find in each, keep in mind which expansion has your favorites.

Reuniting with the Unova region means we’ll meet plenty of familiar faces along the way—though this is Hilda’s first English appearance in the Pokémon TCG! Hilda is a steady Supporter, allowing you to search your deck for an Evolution Pokémon and an Energy card, reveal them, and put them into your hand before shuffling your deck.

Perhaps this preparedness is what helps Hilda look so confident in this illustration by yuu; with a chosen Pokémon at her side, maybe she can take on the challenge ahead!

A Supporter like Hilda pairs well with Emboar, whose fiery fists look ready to weather any storm in this illustration by NC Empire. Emboar’s Inferno Fandango Ability allows you to attach Basic Fire Energy from your hand to your Pokémon as often as you like during your turn. With enough Basic Fire Energy in hand, you can swiftly ramp up to use Heat Crash, doing 120 damage.

The Sun Pokémon shines against a dark sky in this vibrant art piece by mashu. Volcarona’s Ability, Torrid Scales, requires you to discard a Basic Fire Energy from your hand to use it—however, if you do, you may make your opponent’s Active Pokémon Burned. Bringing the extra heat to the battlefield is all the more worthwhile on top of the 70 damage done by Fire Wing.

Illustrator: PLANETA Igarashi

Taking a break from the heat, we can go for a swim with Jellicent ex—carefully, since it looks like it’s preparing to attack in the illustration by PLANETA Igarashi. This Pokémon’s Oceanic Curse Ability leaves your opponents unable to play Item cards or Pokémon Tool cards from their hand, as long as Jellicent ex is in the Active Spot.

For Psychic Colorless, Power Press does 80 damage, and if Jellicent ex has at least two extra Energy attached, the attack does a whopping 160. Could be another way to use extra Energy in your hand from a card like Hilda!

Illustrator: Haru Akasaka

Archeops takes flight in this illustration by Haru Akasaka showcasing the First Bird Pokémon’s bright colors against a background filled with fine lines. Its Ability, Ancient Wing, allows you to devolve one of your opponent’s evolved Pokémon by putting the highest Stage Evolution card on it into their hand. Then, for Fighting Colorless, Rock Throw does 100 damage, which can be a solid follow-up to its Ability.

These cards are just the beginning of what will be available across both Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and White Flare. Seek and collect all your favorite Pokémon when both expansions become available July 18, 2025.
