Doctor Strange Goes to Asgard in New Ongoing Series

Marvel Comics has announced a new ongoing series, Doctor Strange of Asgard, set after Blood Hunt, that takes the title character on a new journey through the mean streets of Thor’s homeland.

In the Blood Hunt event, Doctor Strange lost the title of Sorcerer Supreme, and in the new crossover event One World Under Doom, Doctor Doom is consolidating his hold on power. In Doctor Strange of Asgard, by writer Derek Landy and artist Carlos Magno, Doctor Strange travels to Asgard in hopes of becoming their first Sorceror Supreme. “Suddenly we’re in new territory, where not only does Strange have to deal with Asgardian society on a street level, but he’s also caught up in a murder mystery that he really doesn’t have time for,” Landy said in a statement accompanying the announcement. The first issue will be released on March 5, 2025, with a cover by Geoff Shaw.

“When I was asked to draw Doctor Strange of Asgard, I imagined the reader seeing the sorcerer immersed in the brilliant and magical splendor of Asgard with its colossal statues and fantastic architecture,” Magno said. “This time… Derek Landy and I are going to throw the reader into the dark side of the God of Thunder’s homeland—showing it in a realistic way including its less glamorous side and depicting the dark, scary and snowy alleys and the evil that lurks in the shadows. Here, Doctor Strange takes us into the heart of evil, where his enormous power seems to have little effect on an Asgard the reader has never seen before. It’s a reflection of the world we live in today.”

The new series is part of the One World Under Doom event (see “Preview: ‘One World Under Doom’”).
