Indie Boards and Cards, the publisher behind games like Coup, Resistance, and Avalon, has launched The Magnus Protocol Mysteries on Backerkit. The game is based on the Magnus Protocol podcast, a stand-alone sequel to the award-winning Magnus Archives series by Rusty Quill.
Players step into the role of employees at the Office of Incident Assessment and Response (O.I.A.R.), a British civil service branch tasked with documenting and investigating supernatural events.
The game places players in the Response Department, where they must investigate unsettling incidents instead of simply filing reports like their coworkers. Through a series of new cases, players work alongside characters Sam, Alice, Celia, and Gwen to uncover the truth behind these mysterious occurrences. The cases are original, expanding on the world of the podcast with a mix of familiar and unfamiliar faces.
Listeners of the Magnus Protocol podcast can also explore the background of the game by listening to episode one of the series.
The campaign has raised $106,465 from 927 backers so far, with a funding goal of $10,000. The project runs until November 1.
