Niantic has announced a new event for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:
Take a moment to stop and smell the cempasúchil with the spirited festivities of Día de Muertos in Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO is celebrating Día de Muertos through November 2, 2022, at 8:00 P.M. local time! During this event, a new costumed Pokémon will make its debut. The Requiem Pokémon, Duskull, will don a crown made from cempasúchil, a flower native to Mexico and integral to the celebration of Día de Muertos in Latin America. Duskull wearing a cempasúchil crown can be evolved into Dusclops and Dusknoir. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!
Sweets and incense are also key to the celebration of Día de Muertos, and Pokémon GO follows suit with special bonuses: double Candy for catching Pokémon and extended time on Lure Modules and Incense. Lure Modules and Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for 90 minutes. If you’re lucky, you might encounter Houndoom, Duskull wearing a cempasúchil crown, Drifloon, or Yamask—and if you’re extremely lucky, you may even encounter a Shiny Houndoom. A Día de Muertos Collection Challenge will also reward you with a Poffin and Incense, as well as an encounter with the ghostly Alolan Marowak!
Keep an eye out for bright, flowery, and ghostly Pokémon that contribute to the spirit of Día de Muertos—Cubone, Chinchou, Sunkern, Roselia, Litwick, and Swirlix will appear more frequently in the wild. Trainers in Latin America and the Caribbean can look forward to the featured event Pokémon Duskull wearing a cempasúchil crown, Drifloon, and Yamask appearing even more often in the wild. For a full list of Pokémon available in the wild, in raids, and as Field Research task encounters, visit Niantic’s official Pokémon GO site.
¡Feliz Día de Muertos!

Día de Muertos 2022: Pokémon wearing cempasúchil crowns, new bonuses, and a Collection Challenge!
Trainers,
We’re excited to share details on this year’s celebration of Día de Muertos in Pokémon GO!
Día de Muertos is a holiday observed in Mexico and other parts of the Americas that celebrates the lives and the memory of friends and family who have moved on to another world.
In an ancient Aztec tradition, it was said that the spirits of our loved ones never go away but simply travel to a different world, and during a special time each year, they would return to our world. Ever since, people that celebrate Día de Muertos get ready for this occasion, setting the table with the favorite dishes of their ancestors, covering the streets with petals of the cempasúchil flower, and lighting candles and incense to enjoy a joyful celebration full of colors, music, flowers, and flavors.
