Yen Press announced new manga and omnibi, as well as the release dates for its first tranche of Ize manhwa titles at its Anime Expo panel.
It was an embarrassment of riches for K-ON! fans, with the announcement of K-ON! The Complete Omnibus Collection, which brings together all of the slim volumes in Yen’s series about the four girls who joined their high school’s pop-music club when needed members and went on to stardom despite their lack of experience. For those who can’t get enough of that sort of thing, Yen also announced another manga by the same creator, kakifly: K-ON! Shuffle, a new story about a different group of high school girls who form a band and, presumably, go on to fame and fortune.
And there’s a second omnibus: Puella Magi Oriko Magica omnibus collects the first three volumes in the series, which is one of the many manga spinoffs of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime, a dark fantasy magical girl story.
It has been three years since Vol. 3 of Fruits Basket Another came out, but Yen will finally publish Vol. 4 in December.
New titles included Hoshi No Ko, the story of the strange relationship between a female idol and a male gynecologist (who’s also a fan) by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish); Pandora Seven, a sci-fi/action story about a girl who is the only human on her island until a group of marauding humans show up on a flying ship, and she unleashes a terrible force to fight them; and Doomsday With My Dog, a post-apocalyptic slice-of-life story about a girl traveling through the ruins of civilization with her shiba inu (think Girls Last Tour but with a dog instead of one of the girls).
Yen also announced release dates for the first slate of titles in its Ize Press imprint, which will publish print editions of Korean webtoons (see “Yen Doubles Down on Korean Webtoons”). The first volumes of The World After the Fall and Villains Are Destined to Die will be released in October 2022; the first volumes of The Remarried Empress and Tomb Raider King will be out in November; and The Boxer will launch in December.
