‘SolForge Fusion’ Gets Retail Release in Q2

Stone Blade Entertainment is planning a hobby trade release for its new hybrid deck game Solforge Fusion in Q2, and has selected two distributors, Southern Hobby Supply and Peachstate Hobby Distribution, to handle the channel, the company announced.  The retail launch will be supported with tournament and organized play programs.

SolForge Fusion, designed by Magic: The Gathering‘s Richard Garfield and Ascension‘s Justin Gary, is a new tabletop take on the original digital Solforge game (see “‘Ascension’ Maker Now Stone Blade“). It was funded at $248,453 by 1,990 backers on Kickstarter last fall (see “’Solforge Fusion’ Hits Kickstarter“). Kickstarter backers (there was a retailer tier) are expected to be shipped around the end of April.

Chris Austin, President of Southern Hobby Distribution had this to say about the partnership:

“Justin and his team understand the needs of players and retailers alike when they developed the world’s first hybrid deck game along with a unique and robust organized play format,” Southern Hobby President Chris Austin said of the launch.

Peachstate President Sito Sanchez, also emphasized the organized play. “This promises to be a groundbreaking new game and we look forward to building a great community with the awesome organized play program that StoneBlade is launching with its release.”

SolForge Fusion will be released with support for remote play as well; consumers will be able to scan their decks into the database and play online in sanctioned events via Tabletop Simulator.

StoneBlade plans to release booster products roughly every four months.
