D&D head Dan Ayoub on listening and learning from the OGL: “We lost sight of what was important”

It’s been just over one year since Dan Ayoub became head of Dungeons and Dragons. For many reasons, 2025 was an interesting time to take over. Wizards of the Coast had just finished the rollout of D&D 5.5e. Yet the game’s community was still reeling from a controversy now two years old: the OGL debacle. Trust was at an all time low when Ayoub became the face of the brand.
