Sony and Marvel StudiosSpider-Man: Brand New Day is the movie juggernaut of 2026 (for now). The movie has crossed the $2 billion global mark, the second-fastest movie to do so and only eighth film to ever hit that gross.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day reached the amount in 17 days, Avengers: Endgame did it the quickest in 11 days.

It’s also the fourth highest grossing domestic film ever as of the end of its third weekend with $785.8 million. International gross is $1.236 billion for a total of $2.022 billion.

The film also has grossed the second-best third weekend domestically with an estimated $70 million. Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds the record for third weekend with $90.2 million.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing release ever in 36 markets. At this point, it’s a question if the film will be the first ever to cross $1 billion domestically.

With the bar set so high, there’s pressure on for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday which opens on December 18. The chattering class will absolutely benchmark that film by how well Brand New Day has done and if it falls short, even if still doing very well, expect the press and grifting class to pounce.
