The latest Warhammer 40k previews are green and very, very mean

Warhammer 40k is about to take further steps into the new edition thanks to the upcoming slate of Ork releases. Featured in a recent official preview, the new Codex for the Orks alongside Nazdreg (the notorious Bad Moon warlord), the Warboss kit, Mek box, Boyz squad and a range of vehicles will soon go up for pre-order. If tradition is any indicator, these sets will likely go up for pre-order on August 22, alongside numerous solo releases from the Ork side of the Armageddon box set.

At the top of the new Warhammer Community preview is Codex: Orks, the first faction book for the new edition of Warhammer 40k. As you’d expect from a Codex, it boasts plenty of lore and new rules, including 15 new detachments and datasheets for the over 50 units that make up the faction. It also includes codes for the Warhammer 40k App, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Warhammer 40k - Nazdreg and Warbikers from the new Ork releases

As is typical across all 40k faction updates, there’s also a Collector’s Edition for the codex, complete with a fancy cover and gilded page edges.

The preview features plenty of Ork models, including the power-armored menace that is Nazdreg as well as a heavily customizable Warboss kit. Much to my enjoyment, the kit includes an attack squig as well as a range of different base and weapon options; we love to see it.

The new Mek kit is also here, complete with a shoulder-mounted crane and a grim scowl, while the Boyz kit offers a welcome reinvention of the classic core unit. For fans of going fast, we’ve got the Trukk and the Warbikers. The Warbikers are a particular gem, their sculpts capturing a real sense of motion.

Lastly, we have a range of kits up for preview previously only available through the Armageddon box set. These include the Big Mek Dakkarig, the Weirdboy, the Wartrakk, and a Kommand Krew composed of a Bannernob, Bigboss and Painboy.
