Places Temporary Pause on Base and Standard Card Grading Services; Number of TCG Cards Graded Rises 159% YoY
Beckett Collectibles has placed a temporary pause on accepting online grading submissions for their Base and Standard Card Grading services. These services are expected to reopen on September 15, 2026.
The company paused the two grading tiers to have time to process existing orders, improve current turnaround times, and expand their capacity to grade cards. They reported that the number of cards submitted over the last year was up 102%, and the number of TCG cards they had graded was up 159%. Beckett also estimated the number of new collectors getting into the hobby was up 65% as well.
Beckett will continue to work through existing submissions while the pause is ongoing, and Express and Priority grading services will be available during the pause. Base and Standard grading services may be available at select events on a limited basis. Beckett has also created a waitlist so customers can be notified when these services return.
Needless to say, the sports card and TCG markets are hotter than ever. The pause in grading comes the week after The National Sports Collectors Convention in Rosemont, Illinois, which is estimated to have drawn over 130,000 attendees. PSA had also recently shut down their bulk grading tiers (see “Grading Submission Backlog“).
