Goatboy here and we got two new 40K Ork datasheets shown to us. Nazdreg looks like an amazing model and the new Ork Boyz are HOT. Let’s take a closer look!
Both of the Datasheets are pretty interesting as they are big shifts from the old ones and they showcase a ton of new 40K 11th Edition rules. Let’s break them down and talk about what these could mean for future armies. The wild thing in both of these datasheets is that the rules are pretty big changes.
Nazdreg
I thought WAZZDAKKA was a wild datasheet but Nazdreg just seems amazing. All of his rules are useful and I find him to be a pretty neat model on top of amazing rules. You are looking at a model that can do it BOTH in Assault and still shoot you to death. He somehow gets to ignore cover and hits on a 4+. This is wild when you see that he pushes all the gun’s triggers and throws out a pile of damage. His assault also looks wild too with 11+ attacks that all have Cleave so he alone will just be a meanie when he gets there.
From an offensive side of things he is just awesome. Then you look at his other rules. He can break a unit out of Battleshock or Riles Up a unit. The ability to Rile them up and put a unit back into the WAAAGH seems like a powerful ability – especially if some of the other datasheets have amazing Waaagh effects. Then he also has a reactive move too! That is a wild set of rules that you always get and you don’t need to “choose” one per battle round.
What Nazdreg Means?
This leads me into asking if will see more of the characters going into this sort of design. I know the last edition had a bunch of leaders having a set of rules that they choose to “activate” and have going on for the rest of the turn. They were pretty good but Nazdreg’s abilities all just work all the time. I want to see that come for some of the other Epic Heroes and I hope this is a continuation of the design ideas they have for the rest of the army.
Ork Boyz
Finally we got the new Boyz datasheet you got to see during the Academy video for continued learning in Warhammer 40K and datasheets. It is a pretty wild option as it shows a ton of interesting ideas. The first one is Lethal Hits on charge moves. That is a lot of damage coming your way. Then you see Ammo Runts give you a +1 to hit when shooting which is good. We see the changes to Torrent weapons as well with no more Random attacks as well. The big rule that is wild is the army can be in melee and still do an action. This is wild as a unit of 20 Boyz will own that objective, kill you in melee, and still do an action to control it.
What Boyz Mean?
That kind of battlefield utility is just NUTZ to me and I am wondering what we’ll see in the future for some other armies. This might be a clue to what other armies’ TROOPS units might be able to do.
What do you think? Are we going to see some wild updates whenever we see our new codexes? Does that excite you? I know I love the idea that the units I love are going to change up a lot more. These Orks look wild to me and it has me wondering what Ghaz will do in the future.
