Plus: Supergirl for Early Readers, Middle-Grade Princesses, a New YA Hero, and More!

Following the success of its Compact Comics line for adults (see “DC Launches New Line of ‘Compact Comics’”), DC Comics has unveiled Compact Comics Adventures, collecting kid-friendly series in the compact 5.5″ x 8.5″ format, with an age rating of 8-12 years and an MSRP of $7.99.  DC also revealed its Spring 2027 lineup of comics for young readers.

Here’s a look at the first Compact Comics Adventures titles.

Batman: The Dark Knight: DC Compact Comics Adventures, by Kelley Puckett, Martin Pasko, Ty Templeton, Rick Burchett, and more: Not to be confused with Frank Miller’s similarly titled Batman tale, this 152-page graphic novel collects the first six issues of The Batman Adventures, which were done in the same vein as Batman: The Animated Series. (March 30, 2027)

Superman: Man of Tomorrow: DC Compact Comics Adventures, by Paul Dini, Scott McCloud, Rick Burchett, and more: This 152-page volume collects Superman Adventures #1-6, which were based on Superman: The Animated Series. (March 30, 2027)

Justice League: Heroes United: DC Compact Comics Adventures, by writer Adam Beechen and artist Carlo Barbieri: This 208-page collection of Justice League Unlimited #1-7 pits the Justice League against an array of villains including Triptych, Darkseid, and Morgaine le Fey. (June 29, 2027)

Teen Titans Go!: Truth, Justice, Pizza: DC Compact Comics Adventures, by writer J. Torres and artist Todd Nauck: Just in time for summer vacation, Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Cyborg, and Starfire assemble in a 144-page graphic novel collecting Teen Titans Go! #1-6, which is, you guessed it, based on the animated series. (June 29, 2027)

DC also announced five additional titles:

The Manifestations of Bobby Park, by writer Jeremy Holt and artist Chong Hou, introduces Bobby Park, a Korean-American teen working in his parents’ laundry business and attending an elite science academy on a scholarship.  After his father is attacked and seriously wounded by racists, Bobby develops intractable acne and develops his own serum to cure it.  But there is a serious side effect: He suddenly has an alter ego, Atlas Ahn, a muscular extrovert who gets him into trouble, unleashing a new monster into Bobby’s world. The 208-page, 6″ x 9″ paperback is rated for ages 13-17. ($16.99; April 6, 2027)

Supergirl’s Zoo-per Heroes: Scent of Justice, by Rob Justus (see “DC Launches Early-Readers Graphic Novel Line with ‘Superman’s Good Guy Gang’”) follows up this year’s Supergirl’s Zoo-Per Heroes: Krypto’s Big Break with a sequel in which Krypto hunts for the Justice League’s mysteriously missing enchanted laundry. The 72-page hardcover is rated for ages 5-7. ($12.99; February 2, 2027)

Princesses of the DC Universe, by writers Tilly and Susan Bridges and artist Alba Glez, brings together an all-girl superteam with Yara Flor, Steel, and Miss Martian escorting Princess Maxima home to her planet, with a number of complications along the way.  The 160-page paperback is rated for ages 8-12. ($12.99; March 2, 2027)

Green Lantern: Destiny, by writer Minh Lê and artist Andie Tong, wraps up the Green Lantern trilogy that began with Green Lantern: Legacy and Green Lantern: Alliance (see “DC Middle-Grade/YA Graphic Novels”) with Tai still training under Green Lantern John Stewart and trying to get the Justice League to let him join.  The 144-page paperback is rated for ages 8-12. ($12.99, April 6, 2027)

Gotham Academy: First Year, by writers Brenden Fletcher, Karl Kerschl, and Becky Cloonan and artist Marco Ferrari, collects the six-issue prequel to Gotham Academy (see “‘Gotham Academy: First Year’“).  The 208-page, 6″ x 9” paperback is rated for ages 13-17. ($16.99, March 2, 2027)
