Daggerheart wants you to celebrate this Free RPG Day (June 27th) with a new free adventure complete with pregens and standees.

Free RPG Day is two and a half weeks away by now. And this year is looking like it’s going to be a big one. Case in point, Critical Role’s publishing imprint, Darrington Press, announced a new adventure, complete with accessories that will be made available for this year’s Free RPG Day.

Daggerheart’s Free Adventure – The Dying Spire

Daggerheart recently celebrated its first birthday. And now a free adventure? What a time to be a Daggerheart fan. And if you aren’t one yet, this is the perfect time to take Critical Role’s bespoke fantasy RPG system for a spin.

It’s a character-focused, campaign style fantasy RPG that blends the crunchier side of tabletop tactics with fiction-first mechanics and character hooks to give you a system that manages its own elegant dance. With flexibility and an array of various powers for its many classes, it offers everyone from deeply theater-kid-pilled roleplayers to the most calculating min/maxers something to play with.

And this new adventure is a great introduction. It has everything you need to play, including pregenerated characters and standees. But it’s not a level 1, play it safe, kind of mechanic. This is actually set for Tier 2.

The Dying Spire is an exciting Level 2 adventure for Daggerheart, the epic tabletop roleplaying game from Darrington Press! This booklet includes everything you need to run this cinematic quest as a continuation of The Sablewood Messengers, as a pre-built session that fits neatly into your campaign, or as a one-shot standalone adventure.”

The Sablewood Messengers is the intro basic adventure for Daggerheart. Though I will say, level 2 is where the game starts to feel a little more like itself. Characters have more choices, you get to start using the Tier 2 equipment, the game wants you to level up, so playing a (slightly) higher level adventure is honestly a fine way to jump into the game.

After all, why play a one shot if you’re only ever going to use the level 1 powers? You can also sign up to play this at Gen Con, I believe. Though Gen Con event tickets being what they are, it’s anyone’s guess if there are still any left or not.
