The Book of Unnumbered Worlds, from Kevin Crawford and Sine Nomine Publishing, is the ultimate “without number” book of worldbuilding.

The Book of Unnumbered Worlds, kickstarting now, is a massive worldbuilding toolset from Kevin Crawford, whose work you probably know from the …Without Number series of RPGs, including Worlds Without Number, Stars Without Number, and more recently, Cities Without Number. If you’ve ever played one of these, you’ll know the general sense, d20 adventure, but with some incredibly in-depth worldbuilding and faction play tools to help the world you’re playing in, whatever the genre, feel alive.

Now, Crawford brings that breadth of worldbuilding to The Book of Unnumbered Worlds. Only now, the tools have been refined, organized, and focused entirely on fantasy worldbuilding. Inside, you’ll find all sorts of rules and tools and, crucially, step-by-step procedures for building your own world. From drawing the map and filling it with all sorts of things, to making it playable.

The Book of Unnumbered Worlds – Kickstarting Now

I’m super excited for this one folks. I love the Without Number RPGs. Worlds Without Number, especially has been some of my favorite fantasy RPGing in recent years. It’s got that satisfying crunch where you make a character, but it’s more about playing them in the world, and how the world reacts. The Sine Nomine worldbuilding tools are incredible – and they are system-neutral.

Which means anyone can benefit from the Book of Unnumbered Worlds. Running a game of D&D 5.5E? Got a Daggerheart campaign in need of some worldbuilding? This book will help you out. Because it’s all about the world you make.

“The Book of Unnumbered Worlds isn’t simply a collection of lists and snippets. It’s a tool that focuses on your creations by providing frameworks, tropes, twists, and building blocks that a GM can use to develop their own creative works. Each piece of your work is guided by specific procedures and techniques so that you’re never at a loss for what to do next.

Need a starting village for your campaign? A scheming ducal court? An eldritch abomination? Infernal cult? There are procedures and building blocks for all of these things and more, each designed to let you focus on the enjoyable parts of creation and worldbuilding.”

This is a book meant for GMs that love creating their own worlds. That love finding the hooks that will draw players in. I am particularly thrilled by the emphasis on making things playable. Taking your ideas from nebulous space where anything is possible and translating it to a workable campaign is tricky and this book has guidance for whatever you want. Cosmology building? Laying out geography or peoples? Organizations? It’s all here.

And it’s all human-created with no AI involved anywhere. So you should absolutely check this one out if you’re a worldbuilder. If you’ve ever thought about GMing your own fantasy world, or are even curious, this book is a great jumping off point for anyone.
