The 40K champ is here and the new boogie man of the competitive scene has reared its xenos head. Take a look at GW Open Maastricht 2026’s winner!
Goatboy here with the winning list from the last GW Open. It happens to not be a CSM Defiler list too which is awesome. The Tyranid detachment Subterranean Assault is an interesting build that gives you a powerful base ability (reroll 1’s) with some crazy deployment options. The Nids get to show up all over the place from holes placed in the ground by burrowing monsters. It is a pretty neat army and one of the things that just seems ripe for strong players to play – crazy movement shenanigans.
Ron Eilyahoo won with the following lists that brings a lot of hard hitting Ravenors and other units to show up and pounce on the enemy. A ton of things will get hit by waves of gross little jerks and this army showcases that with a ton of threats, board control options, and powerfully spiking damage.

Unbeatable List Tactics
I just love how the list has so many options to just show up and cause a mess. I think just being able to show up anywhere will cause opponents to make mistakes and let you bugs jump on things. I am wondering if will see more smaller little HQ units that are tough enough to take basic weapons and are easily set up to do missions and other fun things. It is just great to see Tyranids do well at an event as giant mean bugs are awesome to see on the table top.
