Pokémon GO’s Twilight Trails Season is bringing major changes to Trainer Battles, with Super Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon gaining third Charged Attacks and a revamped PvP battle system changing how damage and energy are handled. Running from Sept. 8 through Dec. 1, 2026, the season is the first to fully incorporate the post-2026 Pokémon World Championships changes, replacing the former Competitors Cup system and introducing more consistent turn-based interactions. The 11 Mega-Evolved Pokémon currently capable of reaching Super Max Level gain additional Charged Attacks, including Mega Chesnaught with Seed Bomb+, Mega Delphox with Mystical Fire+, Mega Dragonite with Outrage+, Mega Falinks with Brick Break+, Mega Greninja with Surf+, Mega Malamar with Psybeam+, Mega Raichu X with Volt Tackle+, Mega Raichu Y with Zap Cannon+, Mega Skarmory with Drill Peck+, Mega Starmie with Liquidation+ and Mega Victreebel with Acid Spray+. These expanded movesets can provide additional type coverage and create new opportunities for baiting opponents into using shields. Meanwhile, the updated PvP system applies Fast Attack damage and awards energy at the end of each attack’s turn duration, creating new timing opportunities for Charged Attacks and allowing some Pokémon to launch a final attack before being knocked out. The changes also place greater emphasis on team composition, matchup knowledge and shield management as Trainers adapt to the new GO Battle League metagame.
