Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos will return to Jessica Jones, the character they introduced in the first Alias series, with a new series tied to the character’s 25th anniversary. Bendis and Gaydos’ Alias launched in 2001 from Marvel Comics as the first title under the company’s mature readers Max imprint (see “Printer Problems Don’t Stop ‘Alias’“). It ran for 28 issues, won a 2002 Harvey Award and was nominated for two Eisners.
David Mack, who provided painted covers for the original 2001 series, returns to provide covers for this new reunion series. In addition to the A cover (and a Virgin version of the Mack cover), other covers include a 25th Anniversary B Cover by Corin Howell, Cover C by Ito, and Cover D by Miguel Mercado.
Jessica Jones: Alias features the title character in a story that takes her to the most obscure and bizarre corners of the Marvel universe, far beyond her origins in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, in a simple abduction case that turns out to be more complicated.
The first issue will street on December 23.
An earlier 25th anniversary Jessica Jones title, Alias: Red Band, by writer Sam Humphries and artist Geraldo Borges, launched earlier this year (see “’Alias’ Returns“). The character has been featured in multiple TV series, including Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which aired earlier this year.
