New OP Season Features Events for the ‘World of Warcraft Gameplay Expansion’; Key Dates Revealed
Wizards of the Coast unveiled details about the upcoming Season of Champions for Dungeons & Dragons.
The Season of Champions is a series of organized play events that play out from November 3, 2026 through January 3, 2027. This season coincides with the release of the D&D: World of Warcraft Gameplay Expansion (see “‘Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft’“), and the encounters that are part of this season take place in that world. Here are some of the key dates for retailers:
- Scheduling Opens: September 8, 2026
- Physical Play Kit Sign-Up Deadline: October 5, 2026
- Digital Play Kit Available: October 14, 2026
- Local Game Store Early Access: November 3, 2026
- D&D Encounters Celebration Events: November 6-29, 2026
- D&D Weekly Play Events: November 11, 2026 to January 3, 2027
The D&D Encounters Celebration will be a three-hour event to kick off the season, after which, there will be four Weekly Play sessions supported by the Season of Champions Play Kits. In these sessions, players will explore the Deadmines dungeons from the World of Warcraft book. Physical Play Kits will be shipped to the first 1,000 qualified WPN stores that sign up and schedule a Season of Champions Celebration Event by the October 5, 2026 deadline.
The play kits include 5 printed copies of the adventure material, 20 premade character sheets, 5 printed double-sided maps, 25 season-exclusive D20s, 10 pins for DMs and helpers, and organizer instructions. The DM reward pins are 5 Alliance symbol pins and 5 Horde symbol pins.
