Upper Deck has inked a multi-year licensing agreement with Hasbro to use their IPs to make trading cards and tabletop games.
This marks an expansion in Upper Deck’s entertainment license portfolio, which already includes an agreements with DC, Marvel, and NBCUniversal (see “‘The Last Kingdom’“). Under this agreement, Upper Deck will be able to make trading card and games utilizing licenses such as Transformers, Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Jem and the Holograms, and more.
“Hasbro is one of the most recognizable brands in the world and has shaped generations of fans and pop culture storytelling,” said Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck. “The characters and universes they’ve created represent lasting connections to stories that have been cherished for decades. Our goal with this collaboration is to create trading card experiences that honor the franchise legacies while giving fans new ways to engage with the titles they love.”
The first product to release as part of this licensing agreement will be the Transformers 40th Anniversary Special Edition trading card set, which will arrive in September 2026. This set will be a target exclusive. They will also release a 100-card The Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary trading card set, under Upper Deck’s Fleer brand, that will feature card treatments with artwork from the 20th anniversary IDW Publishing comic book series (see “Joe Hill, ‘Angel,’ and ‘Igor’“).
There has been no word on the tabletop game projects Upper Deck has planned to produce under this agreement, thus far. Renegade Game Studios had been producing tabletop games using some the aforementioned licenses since 2020 (see “Licenses More Hasbro Brands For Games“).
