In the grim darkness of the far future, the women and men of the Adeptus Custodes represent the greatest soldiers humanity has to offer. However, even these gold-clad one-person armies need armored support from time to time. Fortunately for fans of the Custodes, the latest Games Workshop preview features a brand new Support Battle Group for the faction, offering a big box of support for the Emperor’s finest. On the topic of classics, the preview also gave us a tantalizing look at five new Battle March Army boxes for Warhammer: The Old World.
For the uninitiated, Games Workshop’s Sunday Previews single out a range of upcoming products which are on the precipice of going to pre-order, usually during the next week. The latest Warhammer Community preview featured the Custodes’ upcoming Support Battle Group box front and centre, which offers a range of fresh new armored options for the golden guardians.
Usable both in Horus Heresy and for the 40k faction, the box contains four Gryfalcon jetbikes, a Pallas Grav-attack and a Telemon Dreadnought. The four jetbikes give serious knightly vibes, featuring four Custodes armed with lances and poised to descend upon the Emperor’s enemies with extreme fervor.
Meanwhile, the Pallas Grav-attack offers maneuverable firepower, capable of repositioning at speed while laying down some serious destruction. Lastly, we have my personal favorite, the Telemon Dreadnought. Also quick on its feet, this sculpt offers the impressive filigree and ornamentation that we’ve come to expect from setpiece Custodes models.
Horus Heresy fans will be pleased to note the appearance of the latest Journal Tactica: Prospero Burns. This book contains expanded lore, new scenarios, rules, units, and a new army list for Daemons of Tzeentch.
The preview also features five army sets for Warhammer: The Old World. All of these are re-releases of existing kits, but in convenient boxes designed to be played as armies in Battle March – Old World’s more agile, smaller-scale format. The Empire of Man, Beastmen Brayherds, Wood Elf Realms, High Elf Realms, and Orc and Goblin Tribes are all getting new boxes.
