Pokémon GO will debut Mega Starmie in Super Mega Raids during the Ultra Unlock: Starmie Super Mega Raid Day on Aug. 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. During the event, Trainers can receive up to six free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs, increased chances of earning Rare Candy XL from raids, an additional 5,000 XP from all raids and a Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Aug. 21-22. Shiny Starmie will also have an increased encounter rate, while Starmie caught from Super Mega Raids will have Mega Level 1 unlocked. The new Super Mega Raids require coordinated groups, as Mega Starmie can become enraged and use shields that must be countered with an equal or greater number of Mega-Evolved Pokémon. A US$4.99 event ticket adds up to 14 Raid Passes, guaranteed Rare Candy XL when catching Starmie and additional bonuses, while event Timed Research offers a Premium Battle Pass and a Scizor encounter.
