A new manga industry organization called the Independent Manga Alliance announced its formation at the 2026 Comic Con International in San Diego last week.

The organization aims to provide resources to independent manga creators and smaller publishers to help with marketing, translation, distribution, and sales support and connect them with a wider range of readers globally. The Alliance includes founding members comprised of Manga Mavericks BooksMahjong ProsStrict Algorithm LLCRed String Manga, and Curation Entertainment Partners Inc (B!Juku).

Beyond highlighting manga through event panels, the organization looks to be putting together a website full of resources, programs, events, and the ability to network, as well as highlighting publishers.

The organization is also teasing an “Indie Manga Futures Lab,” an initiative “supporting bold ideas and new voices through mentorship, resources, and micro-grants.”

The IMA is also actively seeking new members, and interested manga creators and publishers can fill out the form.
