Sometimes in D&D, you gotta get huge, and you gotta stay huge. Fortunately, these magic spells will help you get beefy.

Magic solves every problem in D&D, in some form or another. Too many goblins? There’s a fireball for that. Bridge broken? Fly or Misty Step. It can even get you swole. Or at least living large, even if your Strength score doesn’t quite line up with everything else.

Sometimes it’s about the strength score of your heart.

Heroism

This is one of the most immanently useful 1st-level spells. Heroism will make you an absolute unit, in that it will significantly enhance your ability to take punishment and still stand strong. It does this by giving you a pool of Temporary Hit Points that refreshes at the start of each of your turns. Plus it makes you immune to being Frightened. So not only are you able to keep fighting and not worry as much about your hit point total, you’ll never have to run away. Unless you choose to.

Enlarge/Reduce

And if you want to actually live large, well, that’s where the Enlarge/Reduce spell comes into play. Obviously, you only need the first half of the spell. It will increase your size category by one, making you Large if you’re Medium, and it will also increase your damage by 1d4. All that plus Advantage on Strength Checks? Good times.

Enhance Ability (Strength)

Of course, if you want to be an absolute unit but can’t quite fit a Large creature in the space you’re in comfortably, you can always just use Enhance Ability (Strength). This spell will give you advantage on any Strength Checks you need to make while under its effects. Simple, straightforward, but what a boost to your muscles.

Yolande’s Regal Presence

A new spell for 5.5E, Yolande’s Regal Presence will make you into so much of an absolute unit that people will throw themselves at your feet and possibly be knocked back by the sheer magnitude of your presence. Plus, you’ll be so regal and radiant that you literally damage those who fail their save.

Polymorph

Finally, when you absolutely have to go beast mode, Polymorph will let you do that literally. Cast this spell and become the lion, the tiger, or the bear (oh my), or any other absolute unit of a beast that you’re capable of transforming into.
