At the Marvel “Next Big Thing” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Comics and WEBTOON announced three new original Marvel comics that will be created specifically for the vertical-scroll format.

Tony’s Girl, by writer CRC Payne and artist StarBite, is an enemies-to-lovers romance between 17-year-old Tony Stark, who is compelled to take etiquette classes as part of his father’s attempt to rein in his wilder tendencies, and Meredith McCall, daughter of Howard Stark’s rival Creighton McCall.

That Time Deadpool Fell Into WEBTOON… and Found The Longest Title of All Time!!!, by writer Ucheomaaa and artist Annie Huang, is a Deadpool isekai story in which the Merc with a Mouth gets pulled into an alternate WEBTOON dimension filled with… the kind of stuff you find on WEBTOON, i.e., romantasy, post-apocalyptic landscapes, and looksmaxxing teenagers.

X-Men Korea, by Studio LICO, follows a Korean teenager who suddenly becomes a mutant and joins the Hoseok Academy for the Gifted, where he learns to channel his powers and save the world.

More details, including release dates, will be announced later.

WEBTOON and Disney inked a deal last year to bring comics from Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, and 20th Century Studios to the WEBTOON platform (see “Disney and WEBTOON Announce Multiyear Deal“).  There are currently eight Marvel series running on WEBTOON, with the most popular being The Amazing Spider-Man (2022), which has racked up over 2 million views.
