Demiplane, the popular digital rules repository, is experimenting with letting you add your own homebrewed rules, starting with Daggerheart.

Demiplane is basically D&D Beyond but, ironically enough, for systems beyond… D&D. That is, you can find rules for Pathfinder and Starfinder and, as you’ll see today, Daggerheart in each of Demiplane’s various portals or Nexuses. It’s a digital rules tool suite that lets you do character creation and handles rules lookups and such.

Owned by Roll20, you might already be familiar with the service. And if you have a Roll20 subscription, you’ve got Demiplane too. At any rate, the big news today is that Demiplane is rolling out the capability to do some homebrew, starting with a beta (live now for all users) focused on Daggerheart.

Demiplane Launches Homebrew Quest, Starts With Daggerheart

Daggerheart is Critical Role’s fantasy ttrpg that’s basically four different RPGs in a trenchcoat. If you play, you’ll find elements derived from PbtA games, FATE, D&D, and the Cypher System. It works (if you like those games) and becomes its own unique thing. With plenty of room to design your own special stuff.

In fact, Daggerheart is one of the few RPGs I’ve come across that seems to want you to homebrew. The way they have their powers set up, you could create a custom class just by picking two Domains and smashing ’em together to see what you get. And making weapons and other equipment? Even easier.

And now, thanks to Demiplane’s new Homebrew ambitions, you’ve got the chance to do that digitally. A live beta is open now, inviting you to make your own Daggerheart stuff and see how it all works out.

“You can now make Equipment for Daggerheart and share it with anyone, not just your players. The creation system is robust. Starting this week through August [Demiplane team members] will be hanging out in Discord on Thursdays [to] show you around, answer questions, and help bring your ideas to life!”

And of course, the Demiplane team is extremely interested in your feedback. This is your chance to shape what these digital tools might look like. Even if you’re not a Daggerheart player, this beta will shape “the rest of homebrew” as Demiplane puts it.
