At long last, launch day is here for the crowdfunding campaign for Justice League Unlimited: The RPG. This is the first new DC RPG in almost two decades, and I have to say, things are looking pretty good. Co-authored by Mark Waid, and brought to you from D20 Culture, the Justice League RPG even features brand new “canon” supervillains that Mark Waid designed exclusively for the game.
Let’s take a look.
Justice League Unlimited: The Roleplaying Game – Now On Gamefound
This is the first big tabletop RPG I’ve seen on Gamefound in a while. At its heart are three core rulebooks: the main core rulebook, Justice League Unlimited: The RPG, as well as The Watchtower, an adventure/campaign book that will take you through the various “tiers” of play, and Crisis Protocol which is a sort of manual of monsters/rogue’s gallery of threats and villains and short scenarios where they might be faced.
But what makes this campaign particularly exciting is that the game is already “100% written” so as soon as the campaign is done, it’s sent off to “production.” Meaning you won’t have that long to wait until the book is actually in your hands.
Superhero roleplaying games are a huge draw, wherever you go, whatever systems you use. I think because people just love making up powers and figuring out what you can do with them. And in Justice League Unlimited: The RPG, you have so many options for making your own hero.
You can pick from a variety of different origins. Like being a Kryptonian or a Construct or an Amazonian or just someone who can channel the Speed Force. You could even just be a regular human for some reason.
From there you can build your own archetype. These are your approach to battle. Are you a bit like Superman? You probably wanna play the Champion of Tomorrow. Are you more of a gadgeteer? Sounds like a Genius. And so on. But it’s not a restrictive class, instead you then pick from 75 different powers and upgrades and can really get into the gritty details of customizing your hero.
All that to say this game sounds like it could have some serious crunch. I hope it does. But you can check it out for yourself at the link below!
