Image Comics plans to offer two special issues of the horror comic Luther Strode, by Justin Jordan, Tradd Moore, and Felipe Sobreiro, to mark the series’ 15th anniversary.
The Luther Strode #1 Anniversary Edition will package the complete first issue of the series along with a gallery of images showing highlights from different eras of the series, which ran intermittently from 2011 to 2016. It will be released on October 7, 2026, with a main Bcover by Moore and Sobreiro, a variant by Ricardo López Ortiz, a 1:25 variant by Ian Bertram, a 1:50 variant by Nick Dragotta, and a foil variant by Moore and Sobreiro.
The Luther Strode #1 Anniversary Treasury Edition will be an oversized treasury edition printed on newsprint. It will also be released on October 7 with a cover by Moore and Sobreiro.
The Strange Talent of Luther Strode launched as a six-issue series in 2011 and followed up with two more six-issue arcs, The Legend of Luther Strode in 2012-13 and The Legacy of Luther Strode in 2015-16. “It appears to be based on the not unreasonable notion that if someone ‘really’ had super strength they would (whether they meant to or not) regularly reduce their opponents into great sopping chunks of red, pulpy meat, then runs with it,” Steve Bennet wrote during the first run of the series (see “Confessions of a Comic Book Guy“).
Jordan was nominated for the 2012 Harvey Award for Most Promising New Talent for his work on the book. Image’s complete collection of the series was among the top-selling titles in ComicHub in October 2021 (see “Pro: Top 100 Graphic Novels – October 2021“).
