Arena combat returns to Infinity this summer.

Enter the HexaDome this summer as Corvus Belli rebrands and relaunches their board game of arena combat in the Infinity universe. Established Infinity fans will no doubt recognize the old edition of Aristeia under the hood as HexaDome looks to be a thoroughly revamped version of the game. Plugged-in players may already be playing a digital version, but it’s now coming back to the tabletop.

2 Players, 5 Rounds

Fully redesigned, two players draft teams of four elite contenders to battle it out and win the love of the crowd. Each character has a unique set of skills and roles, allowing each player to build teams suited to their style of play. The game’s board was designed to maximise tactical choices across its tight five round duration.

Matches play in under 45 minute and will have a number of game modes and team drafting combinations. Publisher Corvus Belli also promises a host of expansions and tournament circuits to further enhance and deepen gameplay.

Players already familiar with the previous edition of Aristeia can expect some big changes. Aside from the obvious visual update, the game has been updated in a number of ways. Passive statuses are gone, replaced with a new “active status system” while the game’s proprietary dice have been refreshed. As well, the design team has rewritten the rules with an eye towards clarity and more direct language.

Core Box

The upcoming HexaDome Core box will include everything two players need to enter the arena.

  • 8 character cards and profiles
  • HexaDome arena board
  • Redesigned symbol dice
  • Tactical cards
  • Scenarios for fast tactical matches

And of course, eight of the beautifully detailed sculpts that Corvus Belli is famous for producing. Whether these models will have rules in Infinity itself is anyone’s guess but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make their way onto the battlefield proper.

Expansion and Bundle

The game’s release is going to be accompanied by its first expansion, Cold Blood. Valkyrie and Nadir, a duo of new fighters join the fray. Valkyrie musters the forces of winter to freeze her opponents while Nadir scourges the arena with lethal toxins draining enemies and empowering allies. The expanion includes two miniaatures and all the reference cards necessary to add them to your rosters.

Pre-orders for HexaDome Legends open on July 30th. Specific release dates are as yet unannounced but the game can be pre-ordered on its own or as part of a bundle. The bundle includes the core game, Cold Blood Expansion, and as a bonus, a free set of the new Frost Dice.

This seems like a really exciting prospect to me. Arena games can roll out fantastic new minis with weird concepts all day long and the Infinity universe is a fertile place for this kind of stuff!

Is it good etiquette to yell, “KUMITE! KUMITE! KUMITE!”,during a game of HexaDome?
