Everyone’s talking about that amazing Edgerunners 2 trailer from earlier this week. Wanna jump into Night City? Here’s how.
This week, more than 4 million people were reminded just how much emotional damage they suffered at the end of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, with the launch of a second official trailer for the upcoming sequel series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. And, if seeing the sights of Night City has chrome flying through your blood again, chooms, don’t worry; there are plenty of other ways to play in the world of Cyberpunk.
Just remember. Night City isn’t a place for happy endings.
Where To Get Started With The Cyberpunk RPG
There are two great ways to explore Night City’s world. First, obviously, you can play Cyberpunk 2077. The game is exceptional now, and it’s the comeback story of the century. But. If you really wanna get into the nitty-gritty of Night City and find new ways to cry, you probably want to check out the tabletop RPG.
After all, Night City began in tabletop, as envisioned by Mike Pondsmith and R. Talsorian Games. And while the current edition of the game, Cyberpunk RED, is set in 2045, the “time of the red,” you can adapt the RPG to any era.
Case in point, there’s a whole Edgerunners expansion, that leaps you forward three decades and also gives you stats for your favorite (most likely now a bloody smear) characters. So, I’d start with the Core Rulebook or the Jumpstart Kit.
If you want to do a deep dive into Cyberpunk RED, though, I’d say check out Tales of the RED: Hope Reborn, a full-length campaign that will show you every style of play over the course of six different jobs. It’s a ready-made story that is, honestly, easy enough to tweak to suit whatever you need, or whatever your players decide.
If you want to get to know Night City, and to understand why people keep showing up there even though they know it’s not a place for happy endings, then you’ll want to check out Night City: 2045. This is your sourcebook for all things Night City during the time of the RED. NPCs, factions, secrets, paydata, it’s all there.
And all that’s just the tip of the ICE-berg, chooms. There’s no end of ways to find yourself on the wrong end of the barrel of a gun when you’re an Edgerunner. If you loved the anime series, check out the RPG. See what kind of ending you get on your own journey into Night City.
See you in Night City!
