The Space Marines of Operation Imperator have achieved victory in the Siege of Deathmire. For now…

Just a week ago, the Siege of Hive Death Mire began, and with it, the first global Warhammer 40k campaign of 11th edition. For the past week, thousands of players have dedicated their games to either the invading orks or defending Imperials through the official web portal for the event. Running from June 22nd-28th, the first week of the campaign was themed around the defense of the Tempestor Victorum Wall. Imperial defenders fought to determine an orderly withdrawal of their forces in the face of the overwhelming ork invasion.

After a week of battles, the results are in, and the winner is…

The Imperium! Hooray for the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable! The victors of each week’s Deathmire campaign battles see an early preview for their faction, and as promised, the Imperials have gotten theirs.

Multi-part Outriders

Originally released as part of the Indomitus launch box set in 2020, the updated Outriders have languished as a push-fit kit. But they are now finally receiving their multi-part kit loaded with options.

The focus of the reveal is on the new kit’s sergeant. Until now, he’s been locked into a cool pose but with some pretty basic armament. Wielding a bolt pistol and chainsword, the sergeant from the original kit looked great but wouldn’t he be a lot cooler with a plasma pistol, thunder hammer, power axe, or chainsword? He sure would, it turns out.

The new kit is also designed to be built leaning to the left or right, as if taking a corner at speed. It’s a fun little upgrade for the kit and adds some dynamic posing to what could be a somewhat static looking model. This is a unit that’s looking pretty good in the new edition’s rules and the addition of a thunder hammer for the sergeant is going to stack nicely with the unit’s Thunderous Impact ability. A couple of units of Outriders could be a nice counter to all the incoming Speed Freeks reinforcements we’re starting to learn about.

With the first week complete, the siege continues. Though the results for the battle of the Tempestor Victorum Wall were an Imperial victory, it was in truth a fighting retreat. The Orks have overrun the hive’s outer defenses and the defenders have fallen back to The Cloisters. A shanty town that lies between the otuer walls and the hive itself, it promises to be a vicious battleground in the coming days. Participants can continue to log their results through their My Warhammer accounts. This week’s battles end on Sunday, 07/05 and will determine the new model to be revealed a week from today!

The battle for the Gallows Spaceport is ongoing, as well. But these results are tied only to games played and reported in official Warhammer stores. How the battle fares there is unknown, we’ll just have to wait a few more weeks to learn the results of that conflict.

What do you want to see revealed next? An updated kit or an all new unit?
