Pre-orders are up for a host of 40k and Horus Heresy miniatures – grab them while you still can.
Some exciting releases from Games Workshop this week, with a set of four new Battleforces army boxes, Ciaphas Cain, the independent release of several Astra Militarum vehicles, and the highly anticipated Maximus Battle Group for Horus Heresy players, who are also finally able to order the new Whirlwind!
Ciaphas Cain
Ciaphas Cain $48
Ciaphas Cain has been a fan favorite character in 40k novels for many years and he’s finally getting a miniature! Okay, technically his second, but we’re not counting that limited edition of 500 from twenty years ago. Cain is accompanied by his faithful adjutant Jurgen. The pair can be assembled on separate bases or as a mini-diorama.
Battleforce: Tyranid Swarm
Battleforce: Tyranid Swarm $255
Of the four new Battleforces up for pre-order today, this is the one that’s got my attention. A Hive Tyrant, Lictor, three Tyranid Warriors, three Von Ryan’s Leapers, 10 Hormagaunts, 10 Termagants, and two Ripper Swarms would go a long way to getting my Leviathan box set Tyranids to a full 2k list!
Battleforce: Chaos Space Marines Warband
Battleforce: Chaos Space Marines Warband $255
Set the galaxy (or at least your dining room table) aflame with this mixed warband of Chaos Space marines, cultists, and daemon-engines. Included within are 10 Legionaries, 20 Chaos Cultists, a Venomcrawler, and two Obliterators, led by a sinister Lord Discordant riding a Helstalker.
Battleforce: Necron Host
Battleforce: Necron Host $255
A new host of Necrons have awakened from their million-years nap and are ready to do your bidding. This force is led by a Catacomb Command Barge, accompanied by 20 Necron Warriors, five Flayed Ones, three Ophydian Destroyers and accompanying Pharmacyte, a Canoptek Doomstalker, and six scarab swarms.
Battleforce: Astra Militarum Platoon
Battleforce: Astra Militarum Platoon $255
You know, it’s not just Blood Angels holding the line on Armageddon. Give those nice trans-human killers a little backup from the Astra Militarum with this artillery heavy-box set. This set includes a Commissar, a Cadian Command Squad, 10 Cadian Shock Troops, a Basilisk, a Field Ordnance Battery, and Rogal Dorn tank.
Centaur RSV
Centaur RSV $69
The new Centaur RSV is here to carry your troops in style, though perhaps they’d be willing to trade that for the armor of a classic Chimera? Too bad! This new half-track transport bristles with gun ports and offers your squads a quick deployment.
Hippogriff AFV
Hippogriff AFV $65
This heavily armed and fast moving weapons platform is here to lend your Astra Militarum platoons some close support. It can be assembled with your choice of vigilator cannon, chiron gatling cannon, melta cannon, or heavy lascannon.
Maximus Battle Group
Maximus Battle Group $220
Oh man, I cannot really begin to explain how excited I am for this set. Updated plastic MkIV marines in both tactical and assault flavor? Yes, please. 20 Tactical Marines, 10 Assault Marines make up the core of this force, and are supported by a Sicaran Battle Tank and Contemptor Dreadnought. This is a fantastic addition to an existing Horus Heresy army or the foundation of a new one. Put it right in my veins.
Whirlwind Missile Tank
Whirlwind Missile Tank $69
It’s finally here! After a long wait, the classic Whirlwind has finally arrived on the battlefields of the 31st millennium. Armed with HE or Pyrax missiles, the Whirlwind is just the thing to decimate enemy infantry at extreme range.
Journal Tactica: Zone Mortalis
Journal Tactica: Zone Mortalis $29
The latest installment of the Journal Tactica series of supplements, full rules for close-quarters fighting in the Horus Heresy, is here. New environmental rules, new missions, and new units are here to fight and die in the brutal confines of the Zone Mortalis.
Plastic MkIV! Plastic MkV when, tho?
